What that usually means is “Why do you have to confront me with the reality that your experience is different than mine and that I’ve contributed to your oppression? It makes me uncomfortable and I’d really like to just ignore it and sing kum-ba-yah.”

Also I really love that line I bolded. That is a perfect, beautiful way of saying it.
